About Me

Hi, I’m Rob

My struggles with weight go back as far as high school.  Temporarily,  I found weight training and loved the sport. My “all in” personality helped me find my way to the gym twice a day. I got strong and big. Upon graduation though, I left it behind and became a 240 pound fat 19 year old. I joined the Army after graduation and through basic training, I trimmed down to 190 pounds and maintained that for my 3 years of active duty. But once I became a civilian again, I slowly became lazy and with poor eating habits, I gained all of my weight back and found myself at 240 pounds again. Needing a change in my life, in 2009 I started running and watching my diet and after a year was back to about 200 pounds. Slowly over the next couple years I started running in 5 and 10ks, gave up alcohol and over this time was able to get down to 185 pounds. By 2013, I had started ultra- running and my new “in season” weight became 180 pounds.

I felt like I was invincible!  After all, if you can run 100 miles, you can do anything!  However, after a few years of running ultra marathons,  I found I was feeling weak overall. I decided to start strength training with running.  I felt much stronger while competing in endurance events.  Over the next couple of years, I started putting together great workouts that were paying dividends for me.

In 2017, a friend encouraged me to train for multi sport events. The idea was to diversify my workouts in order to become strong and fit utilizing multiple muscle groups and skills.  The biggest obstacle I had to overcome was my extremely limited ability to swim!  When I first started, I couldn’t swim more than 1 lap of the pool.  I struggled.  I read books, asked for advice, practiced and then decided to hire a coach.  That is when it all came together for me. That is when I realized how instrumental a coach can be to your goals.  I realized how much more quickly you can reach those goals with a little help.  That is when I realized I wanted to be a coach!

In 2019, I was chosen by the Army to become a Master Fitness trainer for the Army due to my superior physical fitness test results. I also started a personal trainer certification through ACE, though I had not taken the test. In 2020 I became a Certified triathlon coach and a Certified On-Line coach. In 2021 I became an ISSA Certified Personal Trainer, and have recently started an ISSA Certified Nutritionist program. As you can see I have walked in your shoes and understand the challenges you are facing.  I am equipped to help you achieve your dreams of fitness.
